CPAP Therapy - Advanced Sleep

What is CPAP Therapy?

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is the main treatment option for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). CPAP machines are compact sophisticated pieces of equipment that provide a continuous flow of air pressure. This pressure prevents the airway from collapsing during sleep which stops sleep apnea from occuring.

Normal Breathing

Air should always freely flow from your mouth and nose (upper airway) to your lungs. During sleep, in a healthy individual, there should be no restrictions to this airflow.

Obstructed Airway (OSA)

In a patient with OSA, airflow is recurrently obstructed by tissues in the airway during sleep. This obstruction prevents oxygen from reaching your lungs which is associated with serious health risks and can negatively impact daily life.

CPAP Therapy

CPAP Therapy treats OSA by using continuous airflow to create mild pressure which keeps the airway open during sleep.
